Cal Ripken Team In-Camp
Trish Quayle, Monday, 6 August 2012 The 2012 Cal Ripken team assembled as a group in Blacktown before departing for the US on Sunday.
The team had their final training sessions on home soil before playing a scrimmage game against Greater Western Sydney Region. It was a great chance for the coaches to see the team’s positional plays.
Credit due to the players and coaches of the local team, as they showed they were not overawed by the National Team.
Manager Bob Nilsson and Coaches Dean Marnell and Lionel Harris prepared the team with an overview of what to expect on the world stage, and there is a great air of excitement amoung the young players, eager to get to Aberdeen and play.
Two personal celebrations for the team with Manager Bob Nilsson celebrating the birth of his first grandchild, and player Sebastian McAlister will celebrate his birthday for thirty-six hours as he crosses the ocean and two continents.
