The Australian Baseball Federation has announced the National AAA team that will represent Australia at the upcoming 2012 IBAF World Championships in Seoul, South Korea.
After a solid hit out at the MLB Australian Academy Program in the Gold Coast the Australian side has been named with four New South Wales players selected.
It has been a month of excitement for the NSW boys a selection with three of the five boys signing with Major League clubs in the US and now a spot on the plane to Korea to represent Australia in the World Champs. The five players selected from NSW are:
· Aldridge, Dean
· Guyer, Joshua
· Shepherd, Zac
· Simon, Mitch
· Hoschke, Karl (added last week)
Karl was added to the team last week after Adam Silva had to withdraw due to an injury. Karl had a successful time at the MLBAAP picking up the batting award for the program.
The five boys have continued a great year after taking out the Under 18 National’s championship and also holding their spot in National AAA team from earlier this year when they comfortably one the Oceanic region to qualify for the World Championships.
Aldridge and Shepherd have signed with the Detroit Tigers while Guyer was picked up by the Minnesota Twins only days ago.
The Australian team will be looking to go one better than their predecessors from 2010 where Australia won their first ever silver medal going down to Chinese Taipei in the championship game.
The World Championships will run from August 30 and will conclude on September 8 in Seoul, South Korea.
Good luck to the National AAA side and let’s hope they can bring back a gold medal for their country.
